Breakover Safety Notice
Please read this before using Breakover. You'll need to accept it to continue.
Breakover is for information only
Breakover shows estimates from your phone's sensors. It is not a calibrated measuring instrument, not a safety device, and not a rollover warning system. It can't tell you whether your vehicle is about to tip, slide, or fail, and it must never be the reason you decide a maneuver is safe.
Readings can be wrong
Pitch, roll, G-force, speed, heading, altitude, position and weather can all be inaccurate, delayed or unavailable. Common causes:
- a phone mount that flexes, vibrates or shifts;
- calibration done on uneven ground, or a phone that moved since calibration;
- acceleration, braking, bumps and cornering, which disturb tilt readings;
- sensor limits, magnetic interference, weak GPS, heat and low battery.
Alert limits are numbers you choose. They aren't your vehicle's real tip-over angles, which depend on its design, load, tires, suspension, terrain, speed and much more. Set any limits well below what you believe is safe, and treat every alert as advisory.
You're in charge
- You alone are responsible for driving your vehicle, choosing your line and route, and the safety of everyone in and around it.
- Use your own judgment, training, and proper equipment, and use a spotter on difficult obstacles. Turn back when in doubt.
- Don't look at or interact with your phone while driving. Set Breakover up before you move, or let a passenger use it. Spoken alerts let you keep your eyes on the trail.
- Mount your phone securely where it doesn't block your view, controls or airbags, and only where the law allows.
- Follow all traffic, land-use and vehicle laws.
Assumption of risk and limitation of liability
Off-road driving and remote travel are inherently dangerous and can result in vehicle damage, serious injury or death. You voluntarily assume all of these risks, whether or not you use Breakover. To the fullest extent the law allows, Cygnus Strategy LLC isn't liable for any injury, death, damage or loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, Breakover, as set out in our Terms of Use.
